Position & Skill Clinics are designed to provide athletes with high-level, specific training for their position or specific volleyball skills. This year, we will offer both "101" and "201" level classes. "101" classes are appropriate for beginner and intermediate players with 2 or fewer years of experience playing volleyball. "201" classes are appropriate for intermediate and advanced players 14 and older with 3 or more years of experience playing school and club volleyball.

If there is a skill or position you would like to work on, but don't see offered, please contact us to request it.

Class Descriptions

Position Clinics

Setters 101
Setter position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the setter position. Skills covered will include footwork, hand position, set placement for outside, middle and right side sets, and defense for setters.
*In 2019 all of our Setter clinics will be taught by former Division I coach Courtney Leagans!

Setters 201
Setter position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the setter position. Skills covered will include footwork, defensive transition, various tempo sets for outside, middle and right side, and offensive play design.

Liberos 101
Libero position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the libero or defensive specialist position. Skills covered will include footwork, defensive movements, base to release transition, platform and body position, and serve receive.

Liberos 201
Libero position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the libero or defensive specialist position. Skills covered will include reading hitters, defensive movements, serve receive, advanced defensive techniques and common team defensive systems.

Hitters 101
Hitter position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the middle, outside, or right side hitter positions. Skills covered will include armswing breakdown, hitting & blocking footwork, and common sets in each position.

Hitters 201
Hitter position clinics will focus on individual physical and mental skills necessary to play the middle, outside, or right side hitter positions. Skills covered will include advanced transition footwork, armswing reps, a variety of tempo sets, hitting "bad" sets, backrow attacks, and hitting in transition.

Outside Hitters 201
Skills covered will include armswing breakdown, hitting & blocking footwork, a variety of tempo sets, as well as some serving, and backrow skills for outsides who play all the way around the court.

Middle Hitters 201
Skills covered will include armswing and blocking analysis, hitting and blocking footwork, transition footwork, quick tempo sets, and offensive plays.

 

Skill Clinics

Serving 101
Serving skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to improve a player's serve. This clinic is appropriate for beginners looking to master an overhand or underhand serve. Skills covered will include hand contact analysis and breakdown, body and foot position analysis, and tips for generating power.

Serving 201
Serving skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to perfect a player's serve. This clinic is appropriate for advanced players who want to learn various types of serves, including float and jump serving. Skills covered will include hand contact analysis and breakdown, body and foot position analysis, serving zones, and serving as an offensive weapon.

Serve Receive 101
Serve receive skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to improve serve receive. Skills covered will include platform and footwork breakdown and analysis, platform and overhand passing, movement to cover short, deep, and side to side serves, and "emergency" strategies.

Serve Receive 201
Serve receive skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to master serve receive. Skills covered will include advanced movement techniques, 2 and 3-person serve receive strategies, platform and overhand passing, and "emergency" strategies.

Defense 101
Defensive skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to master back row defense. Skills covered will include defensive posture and movement, platform and overhand digging, run-throughs, individual defensive strategies, and common team defensive systems.

Defense 201
Defensive skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to master back row defense. Skills covered will include defensive posture, movement for defensive transition and covering, platform and overhand digging, run-throughs, advanced defensive moves, and common team defensive systems.

Blocking 101
Blocking skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to master blocking. Skills covered will include blocking footwork, movement, hand and arm positioning, and blocking vision.
Blocking 201
Blocking skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to master blocking. Skills covered will include blocking footwork, movement, hand and arm positioning, blocking vision, overpasses, jousting, front row defense, and tandem blocking.

Tempo Offense 201
Offensive skill clinics will focus on the skills necessary to thrive in a fast paced offensive system. Skills covered will include attacking quick tempo sets (in all positions), running a fast offense, transition, and blocking. Clinic is open to all position hitters as well as setters.
