Urgent - C1VB Update - Please Read

Last night, USA Volleyball issued a statement saying that "USA Volleyball is eliminating the sanctioning for all USA Volleyball activities (including but not limited to events, practices, individual training sessions or anything covered by USA Volleyball insurance) effective 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 13."

In short, this means that Carolina One, as a USA Volleyball club, will not be covered by insurance, so we cannot hold any activities, including practices, training, or competition, from now until March 31. All scheduled practices will be cancelled, including team practices, position practices, and LifePerformance training.

Unfortunately this ban also covers the first weekend of Palmetto Regionals. We understand that this is very disappointing, as this will effectively end the season for some of our teams. The Palmetto Region has suggested that families contact hotels to cancel reservations no later than Monday, with no cancellation penalties.

The Palmetto Region will be making a decision soon about Week 2 of Regionals, and we will communicate that information when we receive it. As of this morning, Big South and JVA World Challenge have not made decisions about their tournaments. We also intend to continue with the extended season as planned, and those teams will hear more this week about expected practice schedules and other details.

We are working through the larger implications of this, including hotel reservation cancellations, refunds for Regionals ticket preorders, and other details for teams who will not be competing any more. We will be communicating with teams as we process this information and what it means for our players, coaches, and parents. For those teams that have scheduled activities in April and beyond, we will update you once we hear from those tournaments, or if USA Volleyball changes or extends its ban on activities. In the meantime, if you have questions, please direct them to your coaches and team reps.
