About KimKim Tonkin is a graduate of Furman University with a degree in English and Linguistics. She was a four-year letter winner for Furman's volleyball team, and was a two-year starter at the libero position. Before that, she competed for Marietta High School in Marietta, GA, and helped her team to a state runner-up finish and two elite eight appearances. She also played for Atlanta Juniors club team, where she had a successful career, including helping her 18s team to the USAV Junior Olympic National tournament. Kim now works as an editor and writer for Enveritas Group, a destination marketing company in Greenville, SC. Kim has been coaching for eight years, primarily in the Palmetto Region. She has coached for Clemson Foothills Volleyball Club, Potential Volleyball Academy, and Southern Performance Volleyball Club. Kim has also coached in the Atlanta area, working for VolleyPerformance under the direction of veteran coach and A5 Volleyball Club founder Bob Westbrook. In 2007, Kim co-founded Carolina One Volleyball, where she holds the title of Club Director. In 2011-12, she was the assistant coach for the 15 National team, helping to lead the team to a 5th place finish at the Palmetto Regional Championships. Kim received her USA Volleyball IMPACT certification (Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory) in December of 2008. She then received her USA Volleyball CAP (Coaching Accreditation Program) Level I certification in May of 2009 and her CAP Level II certification in May of 2010.
